Designers Circus

Welcome

The Designers Circus welcomes you to a tradition that began over 20 years ago. A tradition of dedication to small Boutique Designers, and connecting them via our Circus “designer socials” to 1,000’s of professional women in New England.
What began as a simple inventory sale, has grown to 3 cities, entertainment, multiple days, and what some would call the best kept secret in America™. A unique club. Portland, Boston and the Cape area have become markets of the Circus over the past years. All together, we reach most of the professional educated high value added women of New England. During the Season, our connections expand to seasonal customers coming from all over the World.

Beginnings

In 2002, after 20 years, as a designer of a contemporary womens collection, “Blanco Negro”, and as a hostess of warehouse sales for professional women in Boston, which displayed her own designs and those of her designer friends, Kathleen O'Neill, known as “KO”, established a formal identity for the events. They became known as "the designers circus". In the early days it wasn't easy for women to get to the sales. An old warehouse 4th floor walk up on the waterfront was the first venue. Over the years women would navigate thru construction zones, freight elevators, loading docks, and even walk up 7 flights of stairs to the various events. The journey was the reward.

Today, with a presence in several New England cities, the Circus has emerged as the premiere clothing event in New England for women. And its solely by word of mouth or invitation. You become part of the tribe thru a friend, who lets you in on the secret. Although, its been known that some friends take awhile to tell each other. Nevertheless, the spirit of the circus is to "tell a friend, bring a friend, meet a friend, and make a friend™"

Designers

The Circus consists of 100 to 150 rotating womens boutique designers who get together several times a year to meet customers, show their products, and offer their lines at prices 30 to 90 percent less than retail. These are some of the finest boutique designers one can find in the US. Art -to -wear, chenille sweaters, hand woven cottons, designer fleece, party wear, exquisite quilted silks, cottons, professional linens, and many more fabrics and designs are a sampling of the merchandise to be found at any single event. It's creative dressing for the unique individual.

It's an ideal venue to test ideas, meet customers, liquidate inventory, build a market, and even produce just for the circus.

Events and Venues

The Circus is held over several days, in venues that are uniquely different. You find it in a warehouse, in a boatyard, a fishing pier, an old gas station, a waterfront, and other unusual venues. Its part of the adventure. Women come to talk, share the experience, meet designers, and try and buy, designs directly from the designers. Much like an ice cream social, the circus has become a social event where women come with their friends, see their old friends, make new friends and have fun.

As the circus has grown we've begun to see women from Brazil, Italy, Israel, Portugal, Germany, France, Russia, England, in addition to people from all over the United States. Our customers are not just New England anymore.

Community Dressing Room

The only way to shop. Customers love the community dressing room. It gives them a chance to see other styles, exchange, comment to their friends, get comments, and find their style. Some say the Community Dressing Room is experience of their life. We think it's one of the reasons people come back year after year.
